Women hygiene products, such as sanitary pads, tampons or other are a necessity. Unfortunately, most of those are single-use. These are usually packed in plastic and are partly made from plastic, meaning that they are not recyclable or biodegradable. Instead, they take 500 to 700 years to break down into smaller pieces called microplastics. Period products are the 5th most common item found on beaches in Europe, according to the European Commission.

The price of single-use pads

In addition to the adverse effects on the environment, single-use sanitary products cost a lot of money over time. In 5 years, you can spend between 130 and 400€ on female hygiene products. Over the course of your life, this can add up to 14.000€ for disposable female hygiene products.

The reusable options

Luckily, there are several reusable alternatives to the single-use sanitary products. Internal solutions such as menstrual cups or external solutions like reusable menstrual pads. A reusable sanitary pad is the healthiest option for you, because menstrual cups or tampons can lead to a dangerous stagnation of blood in your body.

The reusable sanitary pads from Bambaw are made for women, by women to make sure they cover all your feminine hygiene needs. Therefore, they are available in four different sizes:

  • Light flow (5 pads with 1 layer of microfiber)
  • Medium flow (5 pads with 2 layers of microfiber)
  • Heavy flow (5 pads with 3 layers of microfiber)
  • Mix pack (3 light flow, 2 medium flow, 1 heavy flow)

Three materials

All reusable menstrual pads are discreetly in black and made from three materials:

  • Bamboo charcoal for a dry and soft feeling, as well as odour control
  • Microfiber for maximum absorption and quick drying
  • Waterproof PUL for best protection and slight elasticity

All reusable sanitary pads also have snaps on the wings to make sure they stay in place securely all the time.

A discreet pouch

Each pack of reusable menstrual pads includes a black, leakproof pouch. It has two compartments, which enables you to easily separate used and unused pads. It is also designed to make those trips to the bathroom more comfortable.

What’s in the Box?

  • 5 Reusable Sanitary Pads (Heavy Flow)
  • One black, leakproof pouch
  • One digital user manual with a section on how to use the power of your period

Scheme

PUL

Slightly elastic, it ensures the pad remains leakproof in any circumstances.

Microfiber

The microfiber layer is a highly absorbing material.

Bamboo charcoal

This layer gives you softness and comfort, while the infused bamboo charcoal ensures complete odour control.

Meet Judy

Hello, my name is Judy Tang, and I am a salesperson working in the Zhejiang province, in China. I am 26 years old and have been working here for a little under three years.

Recently, we got new orders from clients, and most of us are excited about that because it means work will continue. I earn more than the country average working here, which has helped me support my family. I work about six days a week, except for the traditional Chinese holidays and public holidays.

My family works in another city, but I get to spend time with them when I can. I am not yet married and don't have kids to support. A house of my own is definitely on the cards and would make things easier for me, so I am planning to do whatever I can to buy a home. It’s at the top of my ‘To Do’ list and a passion project. Owning a home is liberating, and I can achieve that while working here. Although, I would be lying if I said I didn't wish I made more money but don't we all?

In my spare time, I like to listen to music, watch TV, maybe read a book and when I can, have a great time with my family.

Working at a place where the boss gets along well with us is a relief. I like working here because my superior is a kind and efficient person, always committed to helping us achieve our goals. It is inspiring to be led by kind people who make the factory floor a healthy environment.

It has been a great pleasure working here, and I hope to continue delivering and making significant progress in my own life goals.
